My favorite online photo sharing site

Smugmug, I have used it for about 1 year now and i have to say it is very nice. They offer a few features that most site don't. I currently have 2 Smugmug account. We have one “Pro” account and one “Power” account. My wife uses the pro account for her photography business. With the pro account you can sell your photos online without having to deal with all the hassles of credit card merchant accounts and shipping product all over. My personal account is a “Power” account. I chose the power account because i wanted to be able to strip off their Smugmug header and footer. With the power and pro accounts you can customize the look to your hearts content. Take a look yourself and see what they have to offer. I love them and my guess is so will you.

Poor Yahoo

I was eyeing some of that yahoo stock. Thinking about how well they must have done with all that advertising money from the holidays. Well turns out it was a good thing i didn't buy. Looking at the stock today after a “disappointing” earning report makes me shudder, 11% gone! But i still have been affected by it, their earnings have lowered my aapl and goog stock. I can only pray that on the 31st google reports some crazy ass earnings and sends my stock soaring. Apple reports their earnings tonight, cross your fingers for me!

Crazy Office Gear

I have to admit…. I am attracted to this monster. But i did notice some problems with the design. It doesn't look like its easy to get in/out of and thats a problem with the amount of coffee I drink, unless they add the espresso module with catheter bag option. Plus where are you going to put paper or other BS that needs to be on your desk. OOOO yea and I would be nervous every time I was in it that someone would see me and what little cool I have left will be gone.

DTV and MS in bed ?

This would be kinda nice. I have one of DTVs R15 units and so far i like it. The interface is much faster then tivo but there is no skipback when you hit play after fast forwarding and my unit has also “half recorded” some of my shows. Anyway, it would be cool if i could just plug in a portable media center and take some shows with me.

Thats Hot....

Well for 50 bux you can get an ipod belt buckle case :-) Enjoy.

Not to shabby Mr Jobs

Apple released a new laptop, imac, and some software. They also reported some crazy ipod sales figures. 14 million sold in the last quarter of 05. That is insane.

Tomorrow is the day!

Captain Steve Jobs is going to tell us what goodies he has in store for the first part of 2006! Will it be Intel laptops? Plasma Displays? Mac Mini DVR? The most important question is.... will it make my apple stock worth even more! AHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

WoW Burnout

World of warcraft.... One of my favorite all time games. But here we are 1 year after it was released and i am burnt out! With over 1300 hours of playtime invested i have seen everything and done it twice. Is there anyway to enjoy it again? What could they change to make the game feel new again? Even the expansion doesn't look all that good to me. I guess time will tell... for now i Will have to find a new game.

Dungeons And Dragons Online

Lord of The Rings Online

Autoassault

Pirates of The Burning Sea

The Moon!

My wife got me a telescope for Christmas. Its been so overcast i haven't really had a chance to use it. So the last few day its been clear and i have been outside trying to “find” objects in the sky. The only thing i can reliably find is the moon. I hand held my camera over the view-finder so you could see as well.

Adobe app to take on Apple's Aperture?

I came by this article that basically says adobe is stepping up to the plate to try and fill a gap in the post processing photography software market. We will see! I spend a good portion of my time using a camera and would love to see an app that can combine the power of photoshop with the management and organization of Aperture.

Live CD Firewall/Routers

A while back i went looking for a free firewall to replace a dieing watchguard box. I noticed that there are a lot of free and very easy to use software firewalls out there. Boot an old box from a CD and bam instant firewall for free (if you had the hardware)

A few choices i came by.

m0n0wall

Smoothwall

redWall Firewall

NetBoz

Devil-Linux

floppyfw

The features i was looking for

The ability to have more then 1 External IP address (easily)

The ability to be a filtering bridge instead of a router

A nice GUI based rules/nat interface

some limited reporting

Frequent updates to features

FREE!!!!

-------------

After spending a ton of time looking at the options of the above firewalls (and a few others) i decided to stick with monowall. It has all the features i want, a very helpful community, and they update the package on a regular basis. It has been running strong for over 1 year with no problems.
