Jeeves gone? Who gives a rats ass?

God it seems like all the news (geek news) web sites are talking about the killing of Jeeves from ask.com. Well I remember when Jeeves first appeared. It was really just a search engine that was supposed to let you use natural language. “how can i get a sugar momma?” Turns out the technology wasn't all that good at figuring out what people wanted so they ditched the idea and just became a regular search engine…. but Jeeves lived on. So here we are 7 -8 years later and ask.com is just a shitty ripoff of google and for some reason people care about them ditching Jeeves? I don't think so, thats like me caring about K-Mart changing their logo.

Make Web apps into windows apps (Well kinda)

NetJaxer is an interesting app that lets you treat your web apps—Gmail, Ta-da List, Writely, etc.—like normal Windows apps. With NetJaxer you can create desktop and quicklaunch icons for them, make them run when Windows starts, and minimize to the system tray. When you run a web app with NetJaxer it's loaded in a NetJaxer window, which is basically a dumbed-down web browser. So far I love it for Gmail, haven't found any other uses for it yet though.

Escaping the pit of despair...

Soon I will be left all by myself in the pit of despair. My good friend Ryan the only tweaker left in town, will be leaving. Over the years Ryan has been instrumental in all of the tweakers inventions and projects. His keen math skills and the love of foam have made him invaluable in our search for eccentricity. I will truly miss driving ryan to the brink of insanity with my absurd demands of our projects.

Netflix is Dead to me!

I have been a Netflix subscriber since 1999 thanks to my friend drew who turned me on to the service. Now almost everyone I know uses Netflix. But as of the last 3 months I have seen some serious lag in my movies being returned to Netflix. I pay for the 8 DVDs at a time (51.99 per month) So I write Netflix about my problem. Here is the response I got mid last month.

Hello Paul,

Thank you for contacting Netflix customer support!

Please be assured that Netflix delivery delays are very uncommon. If you're experiencing repeated delays with returning DVDs, we would suggest mailing them from a different location such as the post office.

You may report any difficulties with shipments using the Report Shipping Problem page.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks,
Nicole,
Netflix Customer Service.

Ok i understand there are problems with sending DVDs in the mail… sure I understand. But my movies were taking 5 – 6 days to get back to Netflix, muuuuuch longer then the standard 1 day I used to get. Over the weekend I read this and this…. now im furious. I cant believe Netflix would do something sooooooo damn stupid. My account has been canceled.

Smallville

For a few years now i have given my friend shit for being a Smallville watcher. It just seemed that a show about super-man as a boy was kinda… well…. nerdy. From the trailers it also looked to have a bit of teenage drama in it. Well I just finished watching all 100 episodes. Man did that take some serious time. 41 minutes average per episode X 100 = 4100 minutes of TV time. I have to admit after watching the first few episodes i was hooked. The story line is kinda lame at times, but the cast is awesome! Most of the actors just fit right into their roll. So if you ever have 68.4 hours to kill I would suggest grabbing the DVDs.
